1. Lecture content
The Global Green Transition was crucial in the past, is accelerating in the present, and will be the cornerstone of tomorrow, reshaping economies, technologies, and the state of international cooperation. Nowhere are the different facets of the green transition better exemplified than in China, where renewable energy manufacturing, green technologies and new policies influence climate action worldwide. While some critics frame China’s growing capacity as “overcapacity,” others argue it offers exactly what the world has long demanded: affordable solar panels, batteries, electric vehicles, and the industrial scale necessary to decarbonize at speed.
Mr. Erik Solheim, former Executive Director of UNEP and a leading voice on global climate collaboration, will explore these ideas in his lecture. Join us to examine how China’s green industries are reshaping international climate politics, what this means for developing and developed countries, and how a reimagined model of cooperation could define the next phase of global climate governance.
