Research Interests

Dr. Bin Zhao’s research focuses on aerosol pollution and its interactions with the Earth’s climate. He works extensively on developing and applying chemical transport models to better understand the sources and formation mechanisms of aerosols, including secondary organic aerosol. He also has rich expertise in combining observational data analysis and model simulations to further our understanding of the interactions between aerosols, clouds, and climate, such as new particle formation and the impact on clouds, and the impact of aerosols on ice nucleation and ice/mixed-phase clouds. He is also dedicated to investigating effective strategies for the coordinated mitigation of aerosol pollution and climate change.
