Professor HAO Jiming Wins Haagen-Smit Clean Air Awards

SOE, Tsinghua University March 1st Professor HAO Jiming in the School of Environment, Tsinghua University (SOE) was honored 2015 Haagen-Smit Clean Air Awards issued by the California Air Resources Board in recognition for his significant career accomplishments in air quality research, environmental policy, science and technology improvement. The award has been awarded to 44 people since its founding in 2001. Professor HAO was the first winner in mainland China.

Having received his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering in the University of Cincinnati in 1984, Dr. HAO Jiming joined the faculty in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering (former SOE) at Tsinghua in the same year. He served as Dean of the department from 1994 to 1999. He is currently Director of the Institute of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tsinghua University. Dr. Hao’s research has primarily focused on air pollution control, energy and environment, and vehicle emission control. He was elected to the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2005.
