Our faculty has taken the initiative in carrying out advanced scientific and technical researches in the cutting edge of the international academic field. A large number of key promoted research projects have been supported by the State Department for years, significantly boosting research levels in these related fields, and thereby making them better severed for the national economy, at the same time promoting international academic communication and cooperation.
Numerous basic scientific research projects that stand at the frontier of international scientific research are funded by NSFC: "Fundamental Theories and Key Technologies for Carbon Sequestration /Emission Monitoring using Large-scale Wireless Sensor Networks(61190110,Yunhao Liu)”, "Fundamental Research On Organic / Inorganic Composite Semiconductors "(50990060, Yong Qiu), just to name a few.
At Tsinghua, we try to stress the importance of international cooperation. As a result, Tsinghua has many important international research projects are currently underway. For example, the “Multilevel Molecular Assemblies: Structure, Dynamics and Function”( TRR 61 DFG-NSFC, Xi Zhang) co-funded by China and Germany.

The projects funded by MOST aim at exploring key scientific and technological problems of national economy and social development, such as “Research and Application Demonstration on IPv6 Transition and IPv6 Management and Control”(2012BAH01B00,Jianping Wu),“Key technology and demonstration on algae selective breeding and effective cultivation for industrial biofuel production”(2011BAD14B00,Qingyu Wu)and so on.
Among the 16 recently commenced National Science and Technology Major Projects involving the daily lives of Chinese citizens, a large number of them were delegated to Tsinghua., For instance, the “Development of Novel Mucosal Vaccines against HIV-1 Infection”(2012ZX10001-009,Linqi Zhang), “Novel technology for GMO biosafety assessment”(2011ZX08011-006,Daoxin Xie), Platform of Multi-Fields Modelling, Processing Simulation and Design of IC Equipments(2011ZX02403,Linhong Ji)and so on.
