Dr. Qionghai Dai was born in 1964/12. He is a professor in the Department of Automation and an adjunct professor in the School of Life Science, Tsinghua University. Dr. Dai was elected as a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2017/11, was awarded as the distinguished professor of "Changjiang Scholar Award Program" in 2009 and the distinguished young scholar funded by the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC) in 2005. He won the honorary credential of “National Innovation Award” in 2017, and was named in the “New Century Talents Project” in 2014. Moreover, he was the principal investigator of a National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program).
Dr. Dai is expertised in stereoscopic vision and computational photography, and has achieved plenty of theoretical and technical innovations through his long-term efforts. He has led a 973 Program and a Special Fund for Research on National Major Research Instruments, NSFC, working on developing novel theories and key technologies of 3D reconstruction and display and next-generation stereoscopic vision. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Dr. Dai has won the Second Class Award of National Science and Technology Progress in 2016, the First Class Award of National Technology Invention in 2012, and the Second Class Award of National Technology Invention in 2008.
Over the past 20 years, Dr. Dai has trained about 100 graduates and postdocs, published 3 scholarly monographs and 126 journal papers (SCI-indexed papers: 79, ESI highly cited papers: 12), and received grants of 76 invention patents.
