Leiden Law School Visits

On January 9, Professor Joanne Van Der Leun, Dean of Leiden Law School, and Professor Ton Liefaard, Director of Children's Rights Program of Leiden Law School visited the Tsinghua Law School. They were met by Prof. Shen Weixing, Dean of the Tsinghua Law School, and Prof. Cui Guobin, Vice Dean of the Tsinghua Law School.

Prof. Joanne Van Der Leun emphasized the history of friendly cooperation between the two schools. Prof. Shen Weixing extended a welcome greeting to the three Leiden Law School’s exchange students who will study at Tsinghua in the spring semester, and expressed a high expectation for future cooperation between the two schools, especially for student exchanges and academic cooperation. Afterwards, Prof. Van Der Leun and Prof. Shen discussed future cooperation in summer school programs and short-term teaching.

Professor Joanne van der Leun is a Professor of Criminology at Leiden University. She is the Program Director of Criminology (BA and MA) since 2008. She is member of the Correctional Services Accreditation Panel, Ministry of Safety and Justice, the Netherlands, and is active in several Editorial Boards and Committees.

Professor Ton Liefaard is a Professor of Children’s Rights (UNICEF chair) at Leiden Law School. His research focuses primarily on the interpretation and implementation of international human rights law affecting children and the law at the domestic level. He teaches bachelor and master courses on children’s rights and child law. In addition, he is a deputy juvenile judge at the District Court of Amsterdam.
