"Biological manufacturing and in vitro life systems engineering" interdisciplinary innovation base held launching ceremony

On February 21st, "biological manufacturing and in vitro biological life systems engineering" interdisciplinary innovation base (“111 plan” base) project, which was initiated by the ministry of education and the state administration of foreign expert affairs held a kick-off meeting. Dean of the department of mechanical engineering Jian-bin Luo, a tenured professor from MIT Roger D. Kamm, head of the innovation base Wei Sun, teachers from department of mechanical engineering, school of medicine, school of materials, department of electronics took part in the meeting.

Luo gave a speech on the meeting, and hoped that “111 plan” base plan could further promote the technical level and global influence of this emerging interdisciplinary field. Qi Yin from the international office introduced the background, significance and daily management of the "111 plan" base. Roger Kamm said he was delighted to be a part of the base and would work to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge research at home and abroad. The target was to gather more than 1000 overseas academic masters from the world's top 100 universities or research institutions, and build about 100 global first-class discipline innovation base. The " biological manufacturing and in vitro life systems engineering" interdisciplinary innovation base was approved by the end of 2016, and it was the sixth "111 plan" base established by Tsinghua University.
