l        Fundamental study on key technologies for deeply suppressing overvoltage of ac ultra high voltage power system, supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (2007 – 2011).

This project deeply suppresses overvoltage of ac ultra high voltage power system from two aspects of decreasing switching overvoltage and shielding failure, and studies the novel metal-oxide varistor with low residual voltage and high energy absorption capability, which will decrease the insulation level and manufacturing bottleneck of ultra-high voltage power apparatuses, and bring the third revolution of insulation coordination of power system..

l        Key fundamental study on lightning fault analysis of power transmission system, supported by National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program) (2009 – 2013).

This project carries out a research on the key fundamental topics on lightning fault analysis of power transmission system, such as the whole wave process analysis method and key apparatus models, the physics of lightning leader development.

l        Optimal study of DC ground electrode based decreasing step voltage, Supported by China State Grid Co (2009 – 2010).

This project carries out a research on decreasing the size of DC ground electrode by burying insulation layer in soil to suppress the step voltage.
