Professor Pei Xiaomei is the Executive Director of the Gerontology Research Center at Tsinghua University. She is also an editorial board member of Sustainable Community. Professor Pei has long studied issues in the fields of medical sociology and gerontology, and her current projects involve social care for the elderly and international comparison of medical institutions and community development. Since 2004, Professor Pei has been an interRAI member and active in international evaluation on community participation and health for the elderly. Before coming to Tainghua, Professor Pei worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow on the project “Panel Study of the Social Factors that Affect the Health of Older Elderly” in the Duke University Medical School from 1996 to 1999.

Professor Pei’s main research interests include social welfare and social security, medical sociology, social gerontology, and sociology of welfare.
