Wang Jiading

Wang Jiading, Professor of Chemical Engineering, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Current Director of the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering. He was born in 1919 in Chongqing. He received his B.S. from Southwestern Associated University in 1941 and M.S. in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1945. Over a long period of time, he engaged in research and teaching in chemical engineering and nuclear chemical engineering, and made great contributions to China's atomic energy industry and the development of the discipline of chemical engineering. He led and participated in the "study and development of technology and equipment of nuclear fuel reprocessing" from 1958 to 1966. He promoted the replacement of the precipitation method with solvent extraction in China's nuclear fuel reprocessing technology. Since the 1980's, he has been engaged in the applied and fundamental research on liquid-fluid extraction processes and has made significant achievements on two-phase fluid flow characteristics in column extractors; mass transfer characteristics and novel technologies and methods in solvent extraction. He received an Honorary Medal for Devotion to the Science and Technology of National Defense in 1988. He was named "Advanced Worker" at the Tenth Anniversary of the establishment of the State Key Laboratories and also received a "Golden Ox" Award.
