----Beijing－Tsinghua Industrial R&D Institute (BTIRDI), founded in August 1998 on the motion of Comrade Jia Qinglin, is a institution jointly built and managed by Beijing municipal people's government and Tsinghua University. Prof. Dai Youyuan, vice secretary of Tsinghua University, was appointed dean of BTIRDI who takes charge of the institute under the leadership of a council headed by Liu Qi, mayor of Beijing municipal people's government.

----Aim: To provide technological support and project sustentation for Beijing's high-tech development, industrial structure regulation and traditional enterprise reformation with the backing of the R&D forces, bases and achievements of Tsinghua University as well as the introduction of multichannel funds lead by governmental investments; To make Tsinghua University an important R&D source for the development of Capital Economy; To serve for Beijing's technological innovation enhancement, high-tech development and industrialization.

----Objective: To be a hatching center of high-tech enterprises;a serving center for enterprise development, a distributing center of technological information and a consulting center of governmental decision.
