Now! What about the department?

In 1977 Tsinghua University set up the Envirtonmental Engineering speciality, the first of its kind in the higher education institutions of China. The Environmental Engineering Deaprtment was set up in 1984.

The Department has two Bachelor's programs: Enivironmental Engineering, and Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment. Master's and Doctor's degrees are confeeredin Environmental Engineering and Nuclear Environmental Engineering the former being the only national key discipline in this area. Master's degrees are also conferred in Municipal Engineering. There is a post-doctorate research station in NuclearEnvironmental Engineering. The United National Key Laboratory of EnvironmentalSimulatin and Pollution Control is now under construction. The Department has12 professor, 8 doctoral supervisor, and 27 associate professors.
