Department of Biological Science and BiotechnologyThe Department has one program of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology for undergraduates. It has two disciplines: Biophysics and Biochemistry. In the discipline of Biophysics there are now five research fields, namely Membrane Biophysics & Bioengineering, Molecular Biophysics & Molecular Biology of Membrane, Cell Biology, Neural Biology, and NMR & Biospectroscopy. In the discipline of Biochemistry there are now also five research fields: Molecular Immunology, Molecular Enzymology, Inorganic Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology of Plant and Genetic Engineering. There are also the research and development group of Chinese Medicine & Bioproduces, and the National Key Laboratory of Biomembrane and Membrane Bioengineering.
The Department has 11 professors, 3 supervisors of doctoral students and 15 associate professors. It has the authority to confer MS degrees in Biochemistry. In addition, the Biophysics is a national key discipline.
