School of Economics and Management


The Economics Department of Tsinghua University was established in 1926, and incorporated into other universities in 1952. In 1979 the Department of Economics and Management was restored, and in 1984 it developed into the School of Economics and Management. Professor Zhu Rongji, Vice Premier of the State Council, is Dean of the School. There are four departments: Economics, Management Engineering, Management Information Systems, and International Trade and Finance; and two institutes: Economics and Management, and System Engineering. At present, the faculty members are divided into nine teaching and research groups: Economics, Business Law, Enterprises Administration, Industrial Engineering, Management Information Systems, International Business, International Finance and Accounting. The School has Master's and Ph.D. programs in Technical Economics and System Engineering, of which Technical Economics is the national key discipline.

The Master's degrees are conferred in Mathematical Economics, Management Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, and Industrial Foreign Trade. There is also one post-doctorate research station in the Management Science and Engineering. Bachelor's degrees are offered in MIS and Finance. Now there are 14 professors, 5 doctoral supervisors and 33 associate professors in the School.
