The school of Architecture was
developed from the Department of Architecture founded in 1946
by Professor Liang Sicheng. The School consists of the Department
of Architecture, the Department of Urban Planning, and the
Institute of Urban Planning and Design. The School offers a
program in Architecture for undergraduates, and has four programs
for both doctoral degrees and Master's degrees: Architectural
Design and Theory, Urban Planning and Design, Architectural
History and Theory, and Building Science, the first two of which
are national key disciplines. There are 25 professors, 13
supervisors of doctoral students and 27 associate professors.
Prof. Wu Liangyong is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The Institute of Urban Planning and Design in the School has a
State Grade A Certificate of qualification for architectural
planning and design.
Many projects have won great prizes at
home and abroad, for example, the Beijing Ju'er Hutong New
Courtyard Housing Project won the World Human Settlement Award
of the United Nations and the Architects Regional Council Asia
GOLD MEDAL Award for Architectural Excellence.
